Obituary of Thompson, Muriel Helena Blanche
The death occurred peacefully at the South Shore Villa, Crapaud, P.E.I. on Monday, December 10th, 2012 of Muriel Helena Blanche Thompson ( nee Pickering ) , formerly of Sherbrooke, P.E.I., aged 97 years. Muriel was born on July 14th, 1915 in Sherbrooke, P.E.I. to her late parents, Leonard and Eva ( nee Yeo ) Pickering.
Beloved wife of the late Earl Clayton Thompson and loving mother of Ethel White ( deceased ), Bill ( Margo ) of Summerside and Earl Thane ( deceased in infancy ) and mother-in-law of John White of Dartmouth, N.S. Also lovingly remembered by her 8 grandchildren : Gerri-Lynn ( Craig ) MacKay, Shelli-Dawn White ( Sean Irvine ), Shawna-Lee ( Mike ) Rosnok, Kendra-Ann ( Shawn ) Nugent, Karla-Rae White, and Chris, Luke and Charlotte Thompson and also her great-grandchildren Jacob and Josuha MacKay and Brooke-Lynn Nugent. Survived by her sisters Ethel ( Wyman ) Yeo and Sadie Andrew, her brother-in-law Sterling ( Bertie ) Thompson and her sister-in-law Muriel Thompson.
Beside her parents, husband, daughter & son, Muriel was predeceased by her sisters Lucy ( Fred ) Paynter, Gladys( Walter ) Paynter and Doris ( Stanley ) Wilson and the following brothers and sisters-in-law : Ray and Vera Thompson, Hazel Chappell, Wilfred and Ethel Thompson, Elmer Thompson, Ralph Thompson, Ben Andrew and Doris Thompson.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home , 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Thursday, December 13th, where a funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. . Interment to take place in People's Cemetery, Summerside. Visiting hours on Wednesday, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Memorial donations in Muriel's memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation or to Summerside Meals on Wheels would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
