Obituary of Harris, Helena " Helen " Gertrude Marjorie
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at the Wedgewood Manor, Summerside , P.E.I. on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2013 of Helena " Helen " Gertrude Marjorie Harris ( nee Doucette) of Summerside, P.E.I. , aged 89 years. Helen was born on August 21st , 1923 in Summerside, P.E.I. to her late parents Jerry and Catherine ( nee MacLeod ) Doucette.
Beloved wife of the late Gordon Harris and loving mother of Cathy ( Gary ) Gaudet of Summerside, Marlene ( Brian ) Rogers of North Bedeque and David of Toronto, ON. . Also lovingly remembered by her 3 grandchildren ; Jennifer ( Peter ) Cormier, Beth Rogers and Blake Rogers, her brother-in-law Windsor Arsenault of Summerside and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Helen was predeceased by her sisters Marguerite MacInnis, Olive ( Don ) MacEachern and Catherine Arsenault and her brothers Buddy and Enright Doucette.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Tuesday, January 8th, then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m.. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Helen's memory to St. Paul's Church Youth Ministry would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Monday evening only, 7 - 9 p.m..

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
