Obituary of Picard, " Ted " Gilbert Edward
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside , P.E.I. on Wednesday, January 2nd , 2013 of " Ted " Gilbert Edward Picard of Summerside and formerly of Kensington, P.E.I., aged 92 years. Veteran of World War II. Ted was born on November 26th , 1920 in Winnipeg, MB. to his late parents Arthur and Marie ( nee Morier ) Picard.
Beloved husband of the late " Lou " Luella ( nee Peterson ) Picard and loving father of Gary of Edmonton, AB., Cheryl Picard ( Charles Silliphant ) of Ottawa, ON., Judith MacLellan of Summerside, Rick ( Joanne ) of Ottawa, ON., Robert ( Mary ) of Summerside and Brenda Picard of Mount Stewart. Also lovingly remembered by his 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and 1 " adopted " granddaughter. Survived by his sisters Aileen Robinson and Jan Bedard of Winnipeg, MB..
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Saturday, January 5th , then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for a funeral mass at 1:30 p.m.. Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Visiting hours on Friday evening only, 6 - 9 p.m. Memorial donations in Ted's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to St. Paul's Cemetery Fund would be greatly appreciated.
Members of the Royal Canadian Legion, George R. Pearkes, V.C. Branch # 5, Summerside will hold a service of remembrance at the funeral home on Friday evening at 5:45 p.m..

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
