Obituary of MacDonald, John Bennett
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Sunday February 3rd, 2013 of John Bennett MacDonald of Summerside, P.E.I. and formerly of Winnipeg, MB., aged 78 years. John was born on December 11th , 1934 in Summerside to his late parents Brent and Adele (nee Gallant ) MacDonald.
Beloved husband of Shirlee ( nee MacVicar ) MacDonald and loving Father of Vera ( Dion ) Gallant of Abrams-Village, Kelly Ford ( Mike Barry ) of Summerside, Brent of Toronto, ON. and Brenda ( Wayne ) Pike of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Survived by the following sisters: Brenda Woolaver of Fredericton, N.B., Jeannette ( Emerson ) Ferrish of Sussex, N.B. and Olive Clements of Summerside.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his brothers and sisters: Alfred, Eric, Greg ( Yvonne ) Elmer, Gerald, Wilfred Blaquiere , Joyce ( Carl ) Bell, Helen ( Hal ) McLaughlin and Babe Goode and brother in-law Bob Woolaver.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd.,Summerside until Thursday, February 7th, then to St.Paul's church Summerside for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in John's memory to the Prince County Hospital Palliative Care Unit would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Wednesday evening only, 6 - 9 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
